Rough Carpentry

Rough carpentry is a branch of carpentry that encompasses many things, most of which focus on the foundational elements of a project, including the installation of structural components like beams, joists, and subflooring. This type of carpentry also involves tasks related to concrete formwork, siding (Including: wood, vinyl or fiber cement types), exterior trimwork (Including: window and door casing, fascia, bellybands, bargeboards, and railings) decking, fencing, as well as functional elements like gates, deck boxes and garden planters. Rough carpenters work with various materials, primarily wood, and their skills are essential for providing a solid base for the overall construction, requiring a strong understanding of construction methods and techniques.
